Mr. Ken Kanyagui is a farmer, business executive, investor and philanthropist. Ken is the Founder & Chairman of UIC Energy Ghana Ltd., a Ghanaian company with interests and ongoing projects in solar power generation and oil and gas.
He is the Co-founder and President of Union International & Co. Pte. Ltd., a Singapore Company with interests in agribusiness and energy. Ken is also the Co-founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nunya Farms Ltd., one of the largest and fastest growing commercial farm companies in Ghana.
Ken attended Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC) in Legon, Accra. He graduated from PRESEC at the age of fifteen (15) years as one of the youngest to ever graduate from the school.
Ken’s tertiary academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts, USA; a Master of Engineering degree in Supply Chain Management & Logistics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA where he was awarded the prestigious International Logistics Fellowship; and an MBA from Columbia University Business School in New York, NY, USA.
He was a Senior Vice President & Global Head of Supply Chain Sustainability for Goldman Sachs Corporation in New York City. In that role, Ken was responsible for managing a global team to optimize the firm’s $6 billion in annual procurement spend, to deliver superior value to Goldman Sachs as well as have positive socio-economic impact on the firm’s supply chain.
Ken has worked in leadership and management capacities at other respected US Fortune 100 Companies such as Brookfield Asset Management, a $200 billion asset management company with interest in Renewable Energy, Real Estate and Infrastructure Development and Management; United Technologies Corporation, Dell Inc., Deloitte & Touche, Ernst & Young and UPS.
Ken is a member of the board of directors of National Investment Bank (NIB) Ghana Limited, the second largest state-owned bank in Ghana. He was also appointed by the Government of Ghana to serve on a special task force set up to help establish Ghana as a regional financial services hub within the shortest possible time. Ken serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Greater Works Restoration Foundation which focuses on performing restorative surgeries for the disadvantage in Ghana and beyond.
Ken is an ideation member of the Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC) in Ghana. KIC is the corporate social responsibility arm of Kosmos Energy, a globally respected oil and gas exploration company with major ongoing projects in Ghana and other African countries. He has mentored several participants of KIC. He also advises a number of technology, agribusiness and energy startup companies in the US and Africa as well as serve on several other boards.
