NIB PLC and Ministry of Transport Forge Stronger Ties for Economic Advancement

The National Investment Bank PLC (NIB) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ghana’s 24-hour economy initiative following a strategic meeting between the Managing Director of NIB, Chief Dr. Doliwura Zakaria, and the Minister of Transport, Hon. Joseph Nikpe Bukari. The discussions focused on deepening collaboration between the Bank and the Ministry, with key initiatives aimed at enhancing financial services and fostering economic development.

Chief Dr. Zakaria expressed his profound appreciation to the Minister for facilitating the acquisition of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) premises in Adenta, which will serve as a model branch for NIB’s rebranding exercise. The Adenta branch will play a pivotal role in supporting the government’s 24-hour economy agenda by providing round-the-clock banking services to individuals and businesses.

Strengthening Financial Partnerships

In further solidifying its relationship with the Ministry, NIB has secured a landmark agreement with DVLAto manage all cash collection servicesat the Adenta office, with a phased approach to handling collections at other DVLA branches nationwide. This agreement underscores NIB’s trusted position as a key financial institution supporting government agencies.

Engaging Key Transport Sector Institutions

The discussions also explored opportunities for collaboration with other key agencies under the Ministry, including: Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GHAPOHA); Shippers Authority; Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) and Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

Chief Dr. Zakaria emphasized NIB’s readiness to engage with these institutions to provide tailored financial solutions that enhance operational efficiency and economic growth.

The Minister lauded NIB’s dedication to strengthening partnerships with government institutions and reaffirmed his support for the Bank’s initiatives. He pledged to facilitate further engagements with transport sector agencies to ensure seamless financial transactions and enhanced banking services.
