NIB and Local Government Ministry Forge Path for Enhanced Cooperation

In a concerted effort to strengthen institutional collaborations, Chief Dr. Doli-Wura Zakaria, the Managing Director of National Investment Bank PLC (NIB), recently met with Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs. The meeting centered on strategies to revitalize NIB and explore avenues for mutual cooperation.

NIB’s Vision for Transformation

Chief Dr. Zakaria outlined his mandate to rejuvenate NIB, emphasizing initiatives aimed at enhancing the bank’s operational efficiency and financial performance. He highlighted plans to support the government’s 24-hour economy agenda by establishing a flagship branch at the Adenta Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) office, designed to provide round-the-clock banking services to meet the diverse needs of customers.​

Commitment to Quality Service and Partnership

Reaffirming NIB’s dedication to delivering exceptional customer service, Chief Dr. Zakaria invited the Ministry to consider NIB as its financial partner. He proposed that the Ministry channel its project funds through NIB, thereby fostering a collaborative relationship that would benefit both entities. 

Minister’s Recommendations for Enhanced Banking Relations

Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim acknowledged NIB’s initiatives and offered insights to strengthen the bank’s engagement with governmental bodies. He recommended streamlining banking procedures to reduce bureaucratic hurdles, particularly for Members of Parliament (MPs), to facilitate more efficient financial interactions. The Minister also advised maintaining consistency in staffing at parliamentary branches to build trust and familiarity with parliamentary clients.​

Exploring New Opportunities

Emphasizing the importance of leveraging NIB’s existing strengths, Hon. Ibrahim suggested that the bank focus on its core competencies to effectively attract and serve the parliamentary market. He expressed willingness to facilitate introductions between NIB and the MPs’ Common Fund team, presenting an opportunity for the bank to offer its services and potentially secure new business avenues.

In conclusion, Hon. Ibrahim proposed that NIB explore collaborative projects within his constituency in Banda, highlighting the potential for community-based initiatives that align with the bank’s mission and contribute to local development.​
