Social Responsibility

At National Investment Bank Ltd., we recognise that our business activities have direct and indirect impact on the community in which we operate. We believe that good Corporate Social Responsibility is a fundamental part of business success.

Most societies today expect companies to use their economic strength to support communities. Indeed, we also think so and are committed to continuous improvement in our corporate social responsibility programme and encourage our business partners to strive for matching performance.

 Our Good Deeds
- A detailed Road Safety campaign was done on Peace FM in 2004 to educate Road Users. To encourage participation and a Savings culture, the Bank donated prizes in the form of Savings Accounts. The Bank also sponsored advertisements in The Mirror, a weekly paper, to educate Road Users.
- The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research has also been a beneficiary of our Social Responsibility with the Bank constructing a Walk-in Cold Store for their Animal Research Institute, valued at over ¢110,000,000.00 (One hundred and ten million cedis). This will be commissioned in 2005.
- In 2004, the Bank approved the construction of a Borehole to the Nalerigu Constituency.
- A donation of ¢50 million to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital was given in 2004. This is because we recognise our responsibility to work in partnership with the communities in which we operate.
- NIB believes that the media is an important partner to help the Bank achieve some of its aims, as such; the Bank only recently approved sponsorship for a journalist to the Winter Olympics for sports coverage.

Our efforts at being a good corporate citizen was recognized when NIB Ltd. was the winner in the 2004 Banking Awards for Social Responsibility.
